In my LifeSkills classroom, my students do not go out for any classes except non-academic classes. These would include classes such as physical education, art, computer, library, music and family consumer science. My students only go out for these classes for one to two periods a day and are with me the remainder of the day for academic and life skills. This allows me to have more time to focus on key concepts when breaking down skills for them. I have three paraprofessionals in my classroom that assist me with giving immediate feedback and ensuring complete understanding of each skill. Having my students the majority of the day and having three paraprofessionals in the room, allows me to give each of my students immediate feedback so that they can correct anything that they got wrong or do not understand. Another thing that really helps me with having my students all day is that I am able to work with small groups of students to ensure complete understanding of each skill covered.
